Tear Trough fillers: Best natural fillers for younger eyes

Stop spending money on concealer and start feeling more confident about your eyes.

At Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine in Perth, we can’t help you sleep (or get your children to), but we can help you look like you have, with tear trough fillers.

The tear trough is the area under the eyes. The skin in this area is often an area of concern for many patients, due to the appearance of dark circles, a deep and sunken look, or large bags.  The formation of depressed or unsightly tear troughs can be hereditary, and can affect the way we look as early as our teenage years. The aging of the skin around the eyes causes the loss of firmness and elasticity. All of these issues can be fixed with dermal fillers, injected into the tear trough.

The procedure is an instant improvement, eliminating bags and wrinkles and dark circles. If you feel that your eyes constantly have a tired look or are making you look older, we can help at Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine.

What are tear trough fillers?

Tear trough fillers are injections that are placed in the hollow skin under the eyes. The fillers help to correct the appearance of fine lines, dark circles, sagging skin and puffy bags, all of which cause our faces to look tired or older. They can start to show as early as our teenage years. Tear trough fillers are a simple, non-invasive and non-surgical treatment to replace the lost volume in the skin, in the area under the eyes. They are injected under the skin, giving an instant lift to smooth out the lines and diminish dark circles, resulting in a youthful and refreshed look.

At Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine, our fillers of choice have been proven to be among the most effective and safest types of dermal fillers. We also choose brands of injectables that are ultra premium and award winning, mainly from Swiss company Teoxanne. The fillers replace lost volume and shape and also encourage the skin’s natural production of collagen. Your skin is given an instant lift, with results that are immediate with little downtime or side effects.

What to expect

h3>Your Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine tear trough fillers treatment experience

Free consultation. Every patient at Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine begins his/her treatment with a free consultation. This is a one-on-one meeting with a doctor/nurse to have a detailed discussion about the procedure, the patient’s desired results, the fillers and injections, and any potential risks and side effects. You will also be able to review results from previous patients and tear trough filler before and after photos.

The doctor/nurse will check your skin, primarily around the eyes for any abnormalities that could cause risks or affect your results. After your consultation, and once you are comfortable, your tear trough fillers treatment can begin right away.

Your tear trough fillers treatment.

As with most filler procedures at Fresh Faces Cosmetic Medicine, most patients can begin with their treatment immediately after their initial consultation. Fillers are non-invasive and non-surgical. The doctor may apply a numbing agent or a topical anesthetic to the treatment area to help reduce the pain of the injections.

Tear trough and dermal injections are performed with the use of cannulas. We use cannulas here at FFCM as we believe they eliminate a large portion of the risk associated with the procedure. Results can be seen right away, as the fillers are placed beneath the surface, and skin is tightened and plumped. The tear troughs are instantly lifted and smoother. The entire treatment takes less than an hour, and you can return to your daily routine right after your appointment.

Expected Results

Following your treatment, you will begin to see results instantly, leaving you looking and feeling brighter and fresher under your eyes.

Sometimes the skin in the tear trough has also been damaged by the ageing process, so we may discuss rejuvenating the skin in the area too. A touch-up or second treatment may be required depending on your desired outcome.

The results are unique too, with this treatment lasting anywhere between 6 and 18 months depending on the individual.

Recovery time and possible side-effects for tear trough fillers.

Your recovery time will depend on your body’s own pace of healing, but in most cases, tear trough fillers have very little downtime. You can return to your daily routine immediately after your treatment. The most common tear trough filler side effects are swelling, redness, tenderness, bruising and bleeding from the injection sites.

To minimize side effects and to ensure the best results, follow these recommendations:

  • Stay hydrated!  Drink plenty of water and don’t eat foods that are known to cause dehydration. That includes spicy, salty or processed foods.
  • Don’t drink alcohol.
  • Don’t use make-up around your eyes and avoid touching or applying pressure.
  • Don’t do strenuous exercise or activities for two days after your treatment.
  • Avoid sun tanning or excessive heat for two weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do tear trough fillers last?

You will notice your results immediately, as your skin below your eyes will be visibly lifted and tighter.  The fillers add volume and smooth out wrinkles, and the dark hollow circles will be diminished.. You can expect your results to last at least 6 – 12 months, but that can vary depending on your age, skin tone and lifestyle. You may want to return to our office for touch-ups to maintain your results. Over time, the fillers will be broken down naturally and absorbed safely into the skin.

Are tear trough fillers safe?

Tear trough fillers is a minimally invasive procedure. Results are visible immediately. Side effects are rare, but as with any medical treatment there is associated risk.. The most common side effects are tear trough puffiness, tenderness, and redness. These are normal and will disappear within a few days. There are some potentially serious complications which are extremely rare and will be discussed with you during the consent process.

What are the risks for tear trough fillers?

During your initial consultation, the doctor will examine your skin and eyes for abnormalities or anything that could affect your results. You cannot have any open wounds or infections in or around your eyes. You must discuss your medical history with the doctor/nurse before the treatment, so that he/she is aware of any risks. Patients who are in generally good health should have no issues, but there may be higher risk for those with autoimmune diseases, blood disorders, or allergies to anesthesia.
