Threadlifting – tighten and lift skin and erase the signs of aging
To reverse the signs of aging, both men and women are using a treatment called threadlifting, which lifts the skin with threads that are inserted under the surface. It is a popular treatment to gently pull the skin of the cheeks, jawline and necks, which can all show signs of sagging and loose volume as we age. A thread lift is not surgery and does not involve any incisions. Instead, threads are inserted under the surface of the skin and are gently pulled up into place. Skin is tightened, and as the threads dissolve, collagen is produced for long-lasting results of firmer, younger skin. Dr. Josephs is a Regional Master Trainer for ‘Silhouette Soft Thread Lifting,’ as one of the most respected and highly-trained practitioners of the treatment in the area. Book an appointment and consultation with us, and he will tell you more about the treatment and answer any questions you have. Your desired results are our focus and we will tailor the treatment specifically for you.
What is Threadlifting?
Traditional, surgical face lifts are now being replaced by treatments called thread lifts. A Silhouette Soft thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that lifts and tightens the skin around the face and neck, with no down time or incisions. During a thread lift, tiny threads are inserted under the skin and then are gently pulled to elevate the sagging tissue that creates wrinkles in problem areas. Skin is immediately lifted, and over time the long-term collagen regeneration continues, giving the skin firmness, elasticity and a more youthful appearance.

Your Silhouette Soft Threadlifting treatment.
On the day of your appointment, please come to our office with no makeup on and freshly washed hair.
Once you are comfortable we begin the process with a careful measuring and marking of the face. Then, Dr Josephs will inject small amounts of local anaesthetic in key areas ensuring the procedure is as painless as possible for you.
Silhouette Soft is made from resorbable polylactic acid sutures, and these threads are inserted under the skin into a layer where there are no blood vessels or nerve endings. The threads allow us to gently reshape and elevate the tissues of the face or neck. The entire procedure takes around 60 minutes, and does not require any incisions or surgery, making the process faster, safer, and less painful than traditional face lifts.
Silhouette Soft threads work in 2 ways, firstly the mechanical reshaping of the tissues of the face, but more importantly triggering the skin to make its own collagen and deliver the true anti-aging part of the procedure. The threads slowly dissolve over the next 12-18 months, but studies have shown that new collagen production continues for up to three years.
You will notice that your skin is visibly lifted, but the full results will appear later as your skin settles and the collagen restores elasticity and firmness.
Thread lift Recovery time and possible side effects
For a few days after the treatment, you may notice that your skin feels a bit tight or sore, and you may have tenderness near the insertion points. As your skin settles, you may also have some mild bruising or swelling in your face, or depressions or thread lift puckering. These are completely normal, and should subside in 2-3 days. You may want to relax and take a few days off work during this time. Your skin may feel a bit tight or sore for a few days after the treatment. There may be lingering side effects after this time, but they will be light, and generally patients have a full recovery by two weeks after the procedure.
To help with healing and pain, and to minimise any risks of infection, we recommend the following:
For pain or swelling, apply a cold pack if needed, but don’t use too much pressure.
Stay hydrated, drinking plenty of water and avoiding salty or processed foods.
Avoid drinking alcohol.
For at least 24 hours, do not apply makeup or foundation to your face or treated area
Sleep face up and elevated on pillows for 3-5 nights
Be very gentle when washing your face or applying moisturizer
Don’t take hot baths or hot showers, and also avoid strenuous exercise and anything that causes excessive perspiration or straining for at least 48 hours, up to a week.
How long does thread face lift last?
You will notice results immediately, with skin visibly lifted by the threads during the treatment. But as your skin settles and the real rejuvenation with the stimulation of collagen occurs, you will see your skin is noticeably smoother and younger-looking after 3 months. Your results will last around two years or so, as the collagen continues to build around the thread sutures and cone structures under the skin. Our photos of thread lift before and after photos can give you examples of current patients and how their appearance has changed over time.
Is threadlifting safe?
Silhouette Soft thread lift is a safe, minimally invasive treatment, but please note that it should only be performed by a trained practitioner.
Other more rare, but possible side effects you may experience are irritation, infection or their sutures becoming visible under their skin. These reactions are rare, and if they occur, there is no need to worry. The treatment is reversible, as the sutures can be removed easily and your face will return to its prior state.
If you do notice any side effects not mentioned above please call our office right away.
